German Design Council: In 2007 a total of 940 entries in the categories of product and communication design took part in the competition, of which 25 were awarded prizes by the jury. This demonstrates the high standards required for an award by the jury.
The independent jury, consisting of internationally known members, is appointed by the Federal German Ministry of Economics and Technology for a period of four years. It consists of ten members, representing four areas: design, the distributive trades, universities and polytechnics, and the media.
The Design Award represents top international performance. For the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2007 a maximum of twenty entries can be awarded a Silver Design Award and a maximum of five a Gold Design Award. More
