Are the "steel-looking" bands top & bottom metal?	The litter box top, base & interior ring are made of slate-grey molded plastic.
Is the inner edge of the opening safe for my cat?	The opening is edged with a rubber ring to ensure there are no sharp edges for complete safety for both pets & humans.
What is the finish?	The top is made of plastic with vent holes molded into the top to house the charcoal filter.
Can I get replacement charcoal filters?	Refill charcoal filters will be an accessory soon available. However, the Booda round charcoal filter fits & functions perfectly.
Do you put the litter directly into the bottom pan or is there an additional liner?	Litter can be placed directly into the litter-pan bottom.
Does it include non-skid, non-scratch feet?	Yes. There are 4 white non-skid rubber grips located in the base unit.

Definitely attractive but worth the money?I thought for $100 the design was kind of flimsy. Although from afar it looks quite sturdy and has a very attractive modern look to it, that I don't mind having it in my bedroom. I plan on implementing the modifications mentioned by the previous reviewer, it would be worth the money if the manufacturer had thought of these problems and revised them themselves. attractive and useful after self revisionsAfter I bought this item and put it together, I noticed the flaws in the item. Gaps around the bottom edges and holes on the walls where it is pieced together with tabs. So before I let my cats even think about using it! I got bathroom caulk and caulked around the bottom edge of the part that lifts off the base. Then I took clear packaging tape and applied tape to the wall tabs. After completely dried I let my 2 cats Neko and Ruby try it out. Works perfect! No urine or litter leaking out where its not suppose to be. Attractive but pretty much useless...The litter pod is very attractive; that's the good thing. However, the design is flawed. The walls of the pod slide down over the litter pan to a lip about 1 inch from the bottom. The problem is any over-spray of urine on the walls will run down and out between the bottom of the pod wall & the litter pan lip, onto your floor. In addition, this same design issue causes loose clumps of litter to get trapped between the wall & the outer edge of the litter pan; so when you open it to clean the box, clumps of loose litter fall onto the floor as well.
