"I received my Industrial Design Degree from San Jose State University in 2001 and moved from San Francisco to San Diego in 2004, now working as a free-lance designer along with the development of Pre-Feb Pets.
I saw a niche in good, clean modern pet furniture which has not been previously filled. The ubiquitous carpet covered posts just didn't do it for me so I started thinking about alternatives. While I have narrowed the focus a bit based on market response, there are still a lot of possibilities. It's good to see other designers now coming to the table with new stylish pet products.
I had many years of exposure to architecture, furniture design and woodworking but I truly began to appreciate modernism when I studied design at the university. I think the purity and truthfulness to form and materials and how those objects relate to their environment is what I respect the most about the genre as well as its ability to push the boundaries.
Although we love all animals, my wife and I currently have two cats, Izzy & Rascal who are very fussy product testers. If they like these products, I guarantee any pet will! Too bad we can’t improve on the simplicity of a cardboard box!" - David Neighbor, designer
