This project grew out of need to defray medical expenses for John & Emily’s lab. Sadly, Hank has passed, but their superb line of premium custom stone pet feeders & memorials lives on in his memory. Up until recently with the surge in popularity of for kitchen countertops, granite was typically thought of for use only in building structures and cemetery art; sculptured angels, flower motifs and little cherubs sitting on top of tombstones. However, the beauty and textural appearance of natural stone lends a attractive, harmonic complement beyond a functionalality of a simple product like a pet bowl.  Quoting American architect Louis Sullivan who adapted his famous phrase, “form follows function,” the original thought first came from American sculptor Horatio Greenough. It is the pervading law of all things organic and inorganic, Of all things physical and metaphysical, Of all things human and all things super-human, Of all true manifestations of the head, Of the heart, of the soul, That the life is recognizable in its expression, That form ever follows function. This is the law.
